To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Goffredo Petrassi on March 3, 2003, the soprano Maria Chiara Chizzoni and the Orchestra and Choir of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia under the direction of Antonio Pappano will perform the composer's Magnificat on December 7 in Rome.

The work was performed for the first time on May 4, 1941, at the Teatro Adriano in Rome as part of the concert season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The Magnificat was recorded recently for the Chandos label.
