We put together a shortlist of violin concertos from our catalogues – an entirely subjective selection, purely contemporary, and absolutely not complete. Listen to recordings and review the scores by composers such as Luca Francesconi, Pascal Dusapin, and George Friedrich Haas.

Many new violin concertos are premiered this season, including Bernhard Lang’s Beethoven-adventure for Ilya Gringolts and Benjamin Attahir’s “Al Maghrib” for Renaud Capuçon, Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin.

Many UMPC composers’ works are being performed at this year’s international summer festivals—from the Bregenzer Festspiele and BBC Proms to the Salzburger Festspiele, an exciting summer awaits.

Composer Philippe Boesmans turns 80 on May 17. In honor of this event, Stuttgart Opera has scheduled a new production of his opera Reigen which opened on April 24 and has performances through June 3.
